Abstract :
The history of urban planning in ancient Iran dates back to the years before the migration of Aryans and Silk civilization. In the next period, the Medes, urban planning entered a new phase because material cities were built on a high elevation. In this research, while examining and studying the sources and references related to the subject of discussion to domestic research and foreign studies, which is based on urban planning and architecture studies as well as the governance performance of the ancient Iranian empires, we provide a correct and realistic analysis. The purpose of this comprehensive study was to explain and analyze the architecture and urban planning of ancient Iran from the Median to the Parthian period. During the Achaemenid period, although they did not have the opportunity to work in this field in the field of urban planning, but the urban classes gained more volume than in the previous period, which led to the emergence of new cities. They were theaters and the Greek traditions were preserved in them. The cities had a circular design in the Parthian period and justifies the insecurity and stability of Iran in this period. It justifies such defense-military cities. Bastan is until the end of the Parthian period and in terms of purpose is one of the theoretical researches and in terms of nature and method of work, is in the line of historical researches and is organized by descriptive-analytical method.
