Investigating and Analyzing the Components Shaping Urban Vitality (A Case of Bu Ali Sidewalks, Hamedan)

Abstract :

 

In recent decades, the uncontrolled expansion of cities and the increasing emphasis on automobiles have diminished the role of pedestrians in urban spaces. This shift has led to the creation of dull environments and a reduction in the vitality of urban areas. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of Bu Ali Pedestrian path on urban life in Hamadan. The research method is descriptive-analytical. The statistical population includes citizens aged 10 and above in Hamadan, which, according to the 2016 Population and Housing Census, totals 653,000 people. Using Cochran’s formula, a sample size of 384 people was selected. The study’s urban vitality variables encompass four components: socio-cultural, physical-functional, environmental, and aesthetic. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software, with Friedman’s test applied for ranking indicators, and structural equation modeling (SEM) performed using Lisrel software to assess relationships. The research findings indicate that the urban vitality indicators for the studied pedestrian street are favorable. Furthermore, the results of Friedman’s test and the prioritization of indicators reveal that climatic comfort is the highest priority in assessing urban spatial vitality on Bu Ali Pedestrian path in Hamadan.
