Abstract :

The purpose of this study is the examination of the relationship between social and cultural factors with the selection of field of study criteria among Islamic Azad University of Tabriz students.The nature and content work of this study is survey and descriptive and the purpose of the study if applied. The population of the study is all MA and BA students in Islamic Azad University of Tabriz in 93-94 educational years (25947) of whom 379 were selected as the sample of the study using Cochran formula and stratified random sampling method. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather data which is based on Likert scale. In order to test the hypothesis, Pearson correlation, T tests and one way AN OVA were used. The results show that, there is a meaningful relationship between academic credentials orientation and income and labor market. Also, there is a meaningful relationship between others’ encourage and cultural capital with personal interest, social prestige, income and labor market.
