Abstract :
The present study has been carried out to investigate the relationship between personality characteristics and Cultural Quotient (CQ) among the personnel of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism organization of Lorestan Province. The research method was descriptive correlation, and the statistical population involved all employees of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (N=171). The Statistical sample was determined by using the Cochran formula, thus, 120 subjects were selected through proportional stratified sampling method. Two questionnaires were used for collecting the data: 1) Ang et al (2004) standard questionnaire and 2) five-factor personality traits standard questionnaire (NEO). In order to evaluate the questionnaire reliability, the Cronbach's alpha method was employed. The Reliability Coefficients for the Ang questionnaire was α=0.85 and for (NEO) questionnaire was α=0.82. The validity of the two questionnaires was considered as content validity and was investigated by collecting specialists’ comments. For analyzing the data, descriptive statistics on indicators such as average and standard deviation as well as inferential statistical tests such as Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were used. The results showed that there was a relationship between personality characteristics (Neuroticism, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness to Experience) and cultural intelligence, also, Agreeableness was shown to be the best predictor for cultural intelligence (CQ).
