Abstract :
Articulation of feelings and emotions has always been a theme of interest in the poetry of women writers in Iran. One of such emotions is the maternal one which has received more stress and attention by women writers across the world and Iran. This paper prepared through close reading is a comparative study in the poetry of Parvin Etesami and Forough Farrokhzad to investigate their voices as mothers. In doing so, reasons for such articulations including social and literary parameters are investigated. Considering such parameters and the poetry of the two writers, it seems that Etesami with his powerful poems pays more attention to moralities and tries to correct whatever she does not like through advice. She highlights the role of motherhood by means of the same technique. On the other hand, the poetry of Farrokhzad often accentuates a motherhood language that is meant for women to encourage them to resist against men.
