Abstract :
The aim of this study was to compare the effective of couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment with couple schema-based therapy on emotion regulation, self-compassion and marital burnout of conflicting couples in Tehran. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test and follow-up design with two experimental groups and one control group. The statistical population included all conflicting couples in Tehran and the sample size included 20 couples in the experimental group undergoing schema therapy training, 20 couples in the experimental group under acceptance and commitment therapy and 20 couples in the control group. Available sampling was selected in 2019-2020. Measurement tools included Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Gratz & Roemer, 2004), a Questionnaire Self-compassion (Neff, 2007), and Questionnaire Marital Burnout (Pinez1996). Multivariate covariance was used to analyze the data. The results showed that both treatment approaches had a significant effect on all three variables (P<0.001). These changes remained stable in the follow-up phase. Also, there was a significant difference between the effectiveness of couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment with couple therapy based on burnout and self-compassion (P<0.001). However, there was no significant difference between the effectiveness of couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment and couple therapy based on emotion regulation.
