Study of the Ambulance Use in Hospital of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences

Abstract :
Introduction: Hospitals due to lack of problems with the different crises faced during service delivery to patients and this led to the improper use of hospital resources. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of ambulances to hospitals is one of the sources. Methods: his cross-sectional study was done in March 2015 at the hospitals in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. All dispatch of an ambulance outside the hospital for 20 days researcher that the process had been registered owners. Data analysis using SPSS v.19 software and using descriptive and inferential statistics (Pearson Regression Test) were performed. Results: Ambulances were sent outside hospitals 1597 times in the mentioned period of time. The most important reason of using ambulances was receiving consultant services (20.5%), laboratory services (17.2 %) and blood transfusion (12.6 %). The consultant services related to ophthalmology (31.2 %), consulting ENT (16 %) and heart advice (7.4 %). The significant correlation was found between size of hospital and ambulance use. (p<0.01) Conclusion: In general, to apply any kind of intervention it is better to focus on advisory services and blood transfusion. Besides, it would be better to focus on ophthalmology, ENT and the heart services in order to provide better interventions.
