Predicting life satisfaction of women with disabled children based on psychological capital, self-compassion, and meaning in life

Abstract :
The present study was conducted to examine the role of psychological capital, self-compassion, and meaning in life in predicting life satisfaction among mothers of children with disabilities. The statistical population included mothers of children with disabilities enrolled in exceptional schools in Shiraz County, and a sample of 100 participants was selected using the available sampling method. Data were collected using the Life Satisfaction Questionnaire by Diener (2007), the Psychological Capital Questionnaire by Luthans et al. (2007), the Self-Compassion Scale by Neff (2003), and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire by Steger et al. (2006). Data analysis was performed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression tests. The results indicated that all three predictor variables had a significant and positive relationship with life satisfaction, and the regression model accounted for a considerable portion of the variance in life satisfaction (P<0.05). Accordingly, psychological capital, self-compassion, and meaning in life, as influential psychological resources, play a significant role in enhancing life satisfaction among mothers of children with disabilities.
