Abstract :
The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of academic entitlement in the relationship between parental overinvolvement and unproductive academic behaviors of high school students. The present study is descriptive and correlational. The statistical population was all high school students in Bukan who were studying in the academic year 1402-1403. A sample of 351 students was selected from them using multi-stage cluster sampling. In order to collect data, the academic entitlement questionnaires of Chonik and Campbell (2009), Shekari's parental overinvolvement (2013), and Remax's unproductive academic behaviors (2012) were used. Path analysis was used to analyze the data. The results showed that parental overinvolvement has a significant relationship with unproductive academic behaviors and academic entitlement strengthens the relationship between parental overinvolvement and students' unproductive academic behaviors. Therefore, academic entitlement plays a significant role as a mediating variable in the effect of parental overinvolvement on students' unproductive academic behaviors.
