Abstract
Women have always played diverse and influential roles throughout Iranian history, a reality reflected in the works of Mohammad Ebrahim Bastani Parizi, one of Iran’s most prominent contemporary historians. This article analyzes Bastani Parizi’s perspectives on the economic and cultural roles of women in his historiography. While highlighting women’s positive traits—such as sacrifice, courage, frugality, honor, and managerial ability—he also acknowledges certain negative aspects like obstinacy and vindictiveness. The study reveals that Bastani Parizi viewed women not merely as subjects of historiography but as active agents in shaping the economic and cultural dynamics of Iranian society. Through their sacrifice and precise management, women provided the foundation for familial and societal stability and progress. This viewpoint complements the traditionally male-centered historical narrative and contributes to a deeper understanding of women's positions in Iran’s historical society. Drawing on Bastani Parizi’s extensive writings and numerous historical sources, the study elucidates women’s significant role in reconstructing cultural and social identity. It emphasizes the necessity of recognizing women’s contributions in historical research while introducing Bastani Parizi’s distinctive views.
