Presenting a Conceptual Model of the Components of Academic Amotivation: A Synthesis Study

Abstract :
The aim of this study was to provide a conceptual model of academic demotivation. This research was conducted with a qualitative method based on the synthesis. The statistical society included all available internal and external theoretical and research texts, relevant references and high-level documents of the education system of the of Iran. Using the purposeful sampling method, 17 documents that specifically the field of academic demotivation were selected. The tool of data collection in this research was a checklist whose face validity and content validity were approved by 3 academic experts. Based on the findings of the research, 55 characteristics in 4 dimensions and 18 components with titles: the dimension of individual factors with 6 components (self-regulation, experience of emotions in school, anxiety and obsession, lack of awareness, lack of purpose), the dimension of family factors with 5 components (family from disorganized, parenting style, socio-economic base, behavioral conflict, vitality and motivation), the dimension of educational factors with 5 components (effective teacher, new teaching method, consultant position, educational infrastructure, curriculum content), the dimension of managerial skills They were summarized and categorized with 2 components (class management, class organization) and the dimension of social factors with 2 components (social media, social communication). Based on the identified dimensions, a conceptual model of academic demotivation was presented and its principles were also proposed. Result showed many factors are effective in chaining to destroy motivation and create lack of academic motivation, among which individual, social, family and educational factors can be mentioned.
