Abstract :
Interference in laboratory results is one of the worrying factors for diagnosis and treatment, which is divided into three categories: pre-test factors, during-test factors, and post-test factors. Studies in 2012 showed that 100-77% of laboratory errors are related to pre-test errors, but in a study published in 2012, the rate of these errors was estimated to be 100% of total laboratory errors. The reason for the increase in errors in the pre-test section is the development of laboratory techniques, the use of more modern devices, and the application of more accurate methods for device calibration, which has resulted in a significant decrease in the rate of errors during and after the test. Considering the decrease in errors in other sections, the rate of errors in the pre-test section still accounts for a large share of the total rate of laboratory errors. Pre-analytical errors in diagnostic laboratories refer to a set of pre-testing errors and adverse events that occur before the laboratory sample analysis process begins. These errors can occur at various stages from sample preparation to shipment and significantly affect the accuracy and precision of test results. Preventing these errors plays a vital role in providing accurate diagnoses, appropriate patient treatment, and reducing costs associated with duplicate tests and incorrect medical decisions.
