Comparative study of problem-solving method, and source of internal and external control between Iranian and Turkish couples

Abstract :
Problem solving is a cognitive-behavioral process by which individuals identify and discover effective strategies for dealing with difficult or problematic situations in daily life. The aim of this study was to compare problem solving and the source of internal and external control between Iranian and Turkish couples. The research method was comparative designs. The statistical population of this study was all Iranian and Turkish couples that 300 Iranian couples and 300 Turkish couples were randomly selected and answered the problem-solving and control source questionnaires. The collected data were then analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance in SPSS software version 24. The results of this study showed that Iranian couples have more problem-solving ability than Turkish couples and also Iranian couples have an internal control source and Turkish couples have an external control source (p <0.001). It can be said that in order to improve marital relationships, psychologists and family counselors should place more emphasis on training couples to solve problems.
