Abstract :

The belief in a meaningful, spiritual world has long been a deep concern of humanity. Despite significant social and epistemological changes in the modern and postmodern eras, humans continue to look toward a mysterious and transcendent reality beyond the material world. Postmodern literature, with its unique characteristics, also pays attention to the representation of the spiritual. Postmodern novels offer an appropriate platform to explore this fundamental question: How is the spiritual represented in the postmodern narrative world, and what dimensions and aspects does it take on? This study employs a descriptive-analytical method to examine the qualitative content of the novel The Secret History of the Ancient Bahadoran Fors. In this work, mystical elements and religious teleology are presented, and with an open-ended conclusion, the imaginary journey of the Bahadoran and other spiritual seekers is interwoven toward an undefined goal. The return to the human being as the sole refuge from existential suffering and confusion—symbolized by the return to the master along the endless path of spiritual journey—guides the reader toward a human-centered view and a form of secular mysticism.
