The statistical population was all school principals in Zahedan city in the academic year 2021-2022 (N=380). By stratified random sampling 191 school principals were studied through questionnaires of backstabbing (Adapted from Scholl et al., 2019), The Dark Third Personality (Jonason & Webster, 2010) and Personal Selfishness (Adapted from Hadavi Nejad & Amirkhanlou, 2016). Structural equation modeling with the help of Smart PLS software was used to analyze the data.
Findings: Direct effect of dark personality on backstabbing (β=0.32, t=5.70), and self –interest (β=0.38, t=4.41), direct effect of self –interest on backstabbing (β=0.51, t=8.15) was positive and significant. Also, the indirect effect of dark personality on backstabbing through mediation of self –interest (β=0.19, t=3.87) was positive and significant.
