Abstract :
The aim of this research was to formulate a pattern to predict marital burn out based on family function, individual resilience and spiritual beliefs. The method applied in this research was correlation. The statistical population included the married personnel working in 22 Districts of Tehran Municipality together with their wives/husbands in the year 2011, the couples got married with a minimum of 3 years. The sample studied included 500 couples and they were selected by cluster random sampling. The assessment tools were family function, marital burn out scale, resilience inventory and spiritual/religiosity. The path analysis was used for analyzing data. The findings showed that family function, individual resilience and spiritual beliefs had negative significant effect on decreasing marital burn out and that individual resilience and spiritual beliefs via family function decrease the marital burn out. The findings resulted from path analysis showed that family function, individual resilience and spiritual beliefs are able to predict marital burn out. The findings also showed that the model fitted in a good manner. The findings revealed that individual resilience, spiritual beliefs and family function have effect on marital burn out, whether directly or indirectly, but the effect of individual resilience on family function in terms of marital burn out was more in comparison with other elements; thus, paying attention to the role of resilience in marital burn out and finding methods to increase the degree of resilience in couples and family had to be noticed.
