Abstract :

The Purpose of the present study was to evaluate reliability and validity of Persian version of drive for muscularity scale in Gorganian Body builder men.  After a rigorous translation and back-translation procedure, 400 men completed, Drive for muscularity scale, Exercise Dependence Scale, Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire, And Clinical Impairment Assessment.   Exploratory factor analysis revealed 3 factor solution named muscularity- oriented body image attitudes, muscularity-oriented behaviors, and drug use in order to developing muscles. These factors showed good to satisfactory internal consistency and convergent validity. The study provides primary evidence toward validity and reliability of Persian version of Drive for Muscularity scale. However, further studies need to establish validity of drug use in order to developing muscles. In addition, psychometric properties of the scale in other athletic majors and women should be assessed.
