Examining the Effect of Hope for the Future on Academic Motivation through the Mediating Role of Parents' Cultural Literacy in Second-Grade Elementary School Students of Hirmand County

Abstract :
Introduction and Objective This study was conducted to examine the effect of hope for the future on academic motivation through the mediating role of parents' cultural literacy among second-grade elementary school students in Hirmand County. Research Methodology The research method was descriptive-cross-sectional with a structural equation modeling approach. The statistical population included 5,425 second-grade elementary school students in Hirmand County in the academic year 2023-2024, of which 357 were selected by simple random sampling. Data collection tools included three standard questionnaires on hope for the future, academic motivation, and cultural literacy. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 23 and LISREL 8.8 software. Findings The results showed that hope for the future has a positive and significant effect on academic motivation through the mediating role of parents' cultural literacy in students (β=0.80, P≤0.00). Also, hope for the future had a positive and significant effect on academic motivation (β=0.53) and parents' cultural literacy (β=0.52), and parents' cultural literacy had a positive and significant effect on students' academic motivation (β=0.54). Discussion and Conclusion The findings highlight the importance of considering students' hope for the future and parents' level of cultural literacy in enhancing academic motivation and reveal the need for planning to improve these factors.
