The effect of dimensions of ethical decision-making models on auditors' professional commitment

Abstract :

The aim is to investigate the impact of ethical decision-making model dimensions on auditors' professional commitment. The current research is an applied and descriptive-correlational research in nature. The statistical population is 1879 working and active members of the Certified Public Accountants Society of Iran, and the sample size was determined using the Cochran formula of 319 people and studied using the available random sampling method. Barinkova and Spinosa-Pike (2018) and Cohen et al. (1998) questionnaires were used to collect data and measure the dimensions of ethical models, and Klein et al. (2014) questionnaires were used to measure auditors' professional commitment. SPSS and Smart PLS4 software have been used to investigate the relationships between variables using the structural equation modeling method. The results of the hypothesis test indicate that in Kohlberg's and Rust's models of ethical decision-making, dimensions of social responsibility, thinking styles, moral sensitivity, moral judgment, action and moral motivation have a positive and significant effect on auditors' organizational commitment. Also, the dimensions of pressures based on social conformity and organizational suspicion have a negative and significant effect on auditors' organizational commitment.
