Abstract :

The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of Guttman's couple therapy on sexual intimacy and forgiveness caused by infidelity. The present research method is semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with control and follow-up groups. The statistical population includes all betrayed women who refer to counseling centers in Hamadan city. The sampling method was purposeful. For this purpose, 100 sexual intimacy and forgiveness questionnaires were distributed, then based on the scores, 30 women who scored between 30 and 50 in the sexual intimacy test and scored less than 198 in the forgiveness test were randomly divided into two experimental groups. and control (15 people in each group) were divided. The research tools included couple therapy program (Gutman and Gutman, 2017), sexual intimacy (Batlani et al., 2019) and forgiveness (Enright and Santos, 1994). The experimental group underwent 10 training sessions and one 90-minute session every week under Gutman's group couple therapy training. which was performed bya trained person. The control group was not subjected to intervention. After the end of the intervention, a post-test and a follow-up test were conducted after one month from both groups. Analysis of variance was used to analyze the data. The results showed that couple therapy has increased forgiveness and sexual intimacy scores in the experimental group in the post-test and follow-up phases compared to the control group. Based on this, it can be concluded that Gutman method couple therapy can be effective in solving marital conflicts of couples, and couples therapists can benefit from it.
