Abstract :
Today, the study of the Qur'an in a methodical way has been welcomed by many commentators and Qur'an scholars. Discourse analysis is one of the sciences used to achieve this sacred goal. In analyzing the discourse of the Qur'an, by evaluating the different levels of the text of the Qur'an, it is possible to obtain a new and deep understanding of it, and the interactions of language with social-intellectual structures are analyzed. The current research is trying to investigate the methods of representation of the social agents "self" and "other" in Surah Mominun by relying on the descriptive-analytical method and referring to the sociological-semantic model of van Leeuwen (2008). This surah is a compact account of the presence of "self" in the form of believers and "others" in the form of non-Muslims. The results of the research show that in this surah, the social agent of "self" and "other" is represented more through the methods of expression than the methods of elimination. This discourse function is directly related to the main message of Surah Mominun; In this way, an important part of this surah describes the people of faith and they are highlighted, and in another part, the most important characteristics of non-Muslims are referred to and they are marginalized. Therefore, in order to realize this message, it is necessary to use all methods of expression to determine the identity of "self" and "other" social agents, rather than hiding and removing them.
