Identifying the dimensions, components and indicators of improving management skills of Metro Company managers and providing an appropriate model

Abstract :

The purpose of this study was to identify the dimensions, components and indicators of managerial skills of managers of Tehran Metro Company in the form of an appropriate model. The research method is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of data collection method which was done with a cross-sectional survey approach. Statistical ‌population ‌‌consisted of experts, specialists and knowledgeable people in the field of management skills of managers, from which 30 people were selected as a sample by purposive non-random sampling method. Data collection method was based on document research and field method, and the data collection tool included semi-organized interviews. The data collection questionnaire was based on the grounded theory with a systematic approach. The validity of the research has been done by the three-way method, and its reliability has been determined by the method of agreement between the coders. To analyze the qualitative data, the meta-combined method, content analysis and MAXQDA software were used. Finally, 3 dimensions, 13 components and 65 indicators were finalized. The results showed that the dimensions of managers' management skills include individual dimension (self-awareness, stress management, effective problem solving management), interpersonal dimension (constructive communication skills, effective motivation skills, impact skills, conflict management skills) and group dimension (Delegation skills, team skills, leadership skills for positive changes, application of technology, application of managerial requirements). According to the dimensions and components, the presented model had a good fit
