Investigating the Challenges of National Identity in Iran's Secondary School Curriculum

Abstract :
The purpose of this article is to identify the challenges of national identity in the Iranian high school curriculum. This research is qualitative and has been done using the method of cumulative synthesis research with Sandlowski and Barroso approach. Upstream documents and scientific research articles of the last twenty years have been purposefully used to collect information. In this study, articles on national identity in the textbooks of the second year of high school, the hidden and overt curriculum of this course, policies and objectives of the curriculum of the second year of high school and the national identity of students of this course and the opinions of teachers and school principals regarding identity National curriculum has been researched. The results identified the challenges of national identity in the curriculum, intellectual barriers, structural barriers, political developments, hidden curriculum, disregard for global developments, manpower barriers and imbalances in the dimensions of national identity.
