Abstract :
The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between strategic approach of Entrepreneurial orientation and new venture performance through opportunity recognition. The statistical population of the study was small and medium start-up enterprises in Science and Technology Park of Tehran University. The study data were collected by questionnaire and census sampling method, Cronbach’s alpha, composite reliability and factor loadings were used to determine the reliability. Logical validity and construct validity were used to determine validity. to assess the appropriateness of the conceptual model, the coefficient of determination (R²), the predictive relevance (Q²) and effect size were used. The results showed that the measurement tools had the necessary reliability and validity and also the appropriateness of the conceptual model was confirmed. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to hypotheses testing. The results revealed that the gic approach of Entrepreneurial orientation has a positive and significant relationship with opportunity recognition and new venture performance. Moreover, opportunity recognition has a positive and significant relationship with new venture performance. Furthermore, opportunity recognition plays a mediating role in the relationship between the strategic approach of entrepreneurship orientation, innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking with new venture performance. This study tried to open a new window for researchers and practitioners to improve new venture performance by measuring the relationship between strategic approach of Entrepreneurial orientation and new venture performance through opportunity recognition. Therefore; the results of this study can be useful for scientific societies and practitioners.
