Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Gross model based emotion regulation training on adulthood on pro-social behavior. Among all types of pro-social behavior defending and including were selected and studied for the effectiveness of emotional regulation on them. The study used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with control group. Population of this study consisted of all the undergraduate, 30 of whom were selected through random sampling and were randomly assigned to experimental (15 students) and control groups (15 students) and responded to the Multidimensional Measure of Pro-social Behavior (Nielson, Padilla-Walker&Holmes 2017).Emotional regulation training was presented in eight, 90-minute sections. At the end of the program, posttest was administered in the two groups. Data was subjected to MANCOVA; the results showed that with the effect of the pretest being controlled, emotional regulation training increased pro-social behaviors like defending and including. This indicates that well-regulated adolescent are able to retrieve and process information about others and modulate the intensity of an emotional response to achieve a moderate level of initial reactivity and an effective subsequent return to a normal affective state. This illustrates the importance of emotion regulation and its strategies for adolescents and youth in educational contexts.
