Abstract :
This study aimed to predict the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder in students based on parents perfectionism and impulsivity. Descriptive-correlational method was used for doing research. The statistical population of the study consisted of students of Islamic Azad University, Rohn Branch, in the first semester of the first academic year of 2011-2012. They were selected by random sampling of a multi-stage sampling of 150 people. The research tools included Hilal perfectionism log et al., Barat impulsivity questionnaire and Practical obsessive-compulsive disorder (PADOI SANAVIO) questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using multivariable regression analysis. Parental perfectionism and impulsivity with obsessive-compulsive disorder are significant at 5% level, and the positivity of these coefficients actually indicates that increasing these factors increases the level of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Based on the findings of the research, it can be said that the personality characteristics of parents such as perfectionism affect the formation and continuation of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Also, the inability to control the impulse has an effect on obsessive-compulsive disorder.
