The main purpose is to determine optimum dispatch schedules for on-load tap changer (OLTC) settings at substations, substation switched capacitors and feeder-switched capacitors based on the day-ahead load forecast. The objectives are selected to minimize the voltage deviation on the secondary bus of the main transformer, total electrical energy losses, the reactive power flow through the OLTC and voltage fluctuations in distribution systems, for the next day. Since the objectives are not the same, a fuzzy system is used to calculate the best solution. In order to simplify the control actions for OLTC at substations, a time-interval based control strategy is used for decomposition a daily load forecast into several sequential load levels. A binary ant colony optimization (BACO) method is used to solve the daily voltage and reactive control which is a non-linear mixed-integer problem. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the Volt/VAr control is performed in IEEE 33-bus and 69-bus distribution systems and its performance is compared with genetic algorithm and hybrid binary genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithms. Simulation results show the BACO algorithm has better outperforms than other algorithms. تفاصيل المقالة -

The performance of induction motors is influenced by their supply voltage; thus, such faults as short circuits can lead to their instability. Distributed Generation Units (DGUs), recently applied by electric utilities and consumers with a remarkable growth, can provide the desired ctive power based on a proper control algorithm and configuration of such voltage source converters as parallel, series and hybrid in one hand, and compensate for various power quality and voltage regulation problems, on the other; hence so called Flexible Distributed Generation (FDG). In this paper, a new interface is introduced for onnecting DGUs to the distribution network. The proposed interface is not only able to provide some portion of active power to loads, but also maintains the nominal voltage for a wide range of operational conditions. Hence, it can replace such compensation devices as Distribution Static Compensators (D-STATCOM) or On-Load Tap Changer transformers (OLTC), which have already being used for voltage regulation of distribution networks. Within the interface, a fuzzy controller is used for the voltage control loop. Computer simulation in MATLAB Simulink proves the performance enhancement of the interface. تفاصيل المقالة -

In the proposed regressor-free controller, two critical practical situations are considered: the fact that robot actuators have limited voltages, and limitation on the number of measurement devices. However, in the article "decentralized direct adaptive fuzzy control for flexible-joint robots," these limitations have been neglected. It should be noted that a few solutions for the voltage-bounded robust tracking control of flexible joint robots have been proposed. In this paper; we contribute to this subject by presenting a new form of voltage-based controllers. The closed-loop control system stability is proved, and uniformly boundedness of the joint position errors is guaranteed. As a second contribution of this paper, we present a robust adaptive control scheme without the need for computation of the regressor matrix with the same result on the closed-loop system stability. Experimental results of the proposed controller and the decentralized direct adaptive fuzzy controller are produced using MATLAB/SIMULINK external mode control on a single-link flexible-joint electrically driven robot. Experimental and analytical results demonstrate the high performance of the proposed control scheme. تفاصيل المقالة -

Because of using voltage control strategy, the proposed approach is free of problems arising from torque control strategy in the design and implementation. In fact, the motor's current includes the effects of nonlinearities and coupling in the robot manipulator. Therefore, cancellation of motor current by feedback linearization in voltage control strategy can cancel the highly nonlinear dynamics of manipulators. Thus, it can guarantee robustness of control system to both structured and unstructured uncertainties associated with robot dynamics. As a result, the proposed control is simple, fast response and superior to torque control approaches. The control method is verified by stability analysis. Simulations on a two-link actuated flexible-joint robot show the effectiveness of the proposed control approach. Compared with ordinary controller, the fractional type shows a better tracking performance. تفاصيل المقالة -

Next, a robust impedance controller is proposed for electrically driven robots using Fourier series (FS). The fact that robots' actuators have limited voltage is also considered in controller design procedure. In comparison with other impedance controllers using FS, the proposed controller results in fewer numbers of FS and consequently less computational load. These superiorities become more dominant when the manipulator degrees of freedom are increased. Simulation results on a Puma560 manipulator actuated by permanent magnet direct current electrical motors indicate the efficiency of proposed method. تفاصيل المقالة -

Therefore, a compensation procedure should be carried out in order to balance and restore sensitive load’s voltage. In this paper, an effective voltage control strategy has been proposed for the autonomous operation of microgrids, under unbalanced load conditions. The proposed strategy balances single-phase sensitive loads by compensating the unbalanced voltage drop of the impedance between the outputs of Distribution Generation (DG) to the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). In addition, this scheme has also shown to be capable of restoring sensitive loads’ voltage to nominal values. This method also shares the active and reactive load accurately between Distribution Generation (DG) units, based on their capacity. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed control strategy, several simulations have been conducted under various states in an islanded microgrid prototype. Obtained simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in compensation of unbalanced load voltage and voltage restoration. تفاصيل المقالة -

Balancing power that leads to voltage and frequency stability in a microgrid is essential. The voltage and frequency regulations are limiting within the specified limits and conveying them to their nominal values. Limiting and conveying the voltage and frequency to their nominal values is done by the primary and secondary controls, respectively. A Microgrid has both dispatchable and non-dispatchable sources. Dispatchable sources are controlled by the conventional P-ω and Q-E droop controls. A photovoltaic as a non-dispatchable source generates the active power according to weather conditions, but the reactive power is supplied using the E-Q droop method. The E-Q droop uses the idle capacity of the inverters in the reactive power supply. Distributed secondary control increases the stability due to good, accurate and reliable controls. The frequency is constant in the whole microgrid. Since line impedances are different, load terminal voltage control is necessary. The load is considered as another agent, who can request the desired voltage at its terminal bus. تفاصيل المقالة
