Introduction: The Paralympic Games provide a platform for showcasing the capabilities of athletes with disabilities; however, athletes with spinal cord injuries, particularly in the lumbar region, often face psychological challenges such as reduced self-efficacy and maladaptive coping styles. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), as a resource-oriented and solution-centered approach, may be effective in addressing these issues. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group structure. The statistical population consisted of Paralympic athletes with lumbar spinal cord injuries. From this population, 32 participants were purposefully selected and then randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group (16 participants in each). The experimental group participated in seven sessions of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), conducted once weekly, each session lasting 60 minutes. In contrast, the control group received no intervention during the study period. Measurement tools included the Lazarus and Folkman’s Coping Styles Questionnaire and the Sherer General Self-Efficacy Scale. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, tests for normality, Levene’s test for homogeneity of variance, and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) to assess the effectiveness of the intervention Results: The results indicated that Solution-Focused Brief Therapy had a significant effect on increasing self-efficacy (p < 0.01) and problem-focused coping styles (p < 0.05), as well as reducing emotion-focused and avoidant coping styles (p < 0.05) in the experimental group compared to the control group Conclusion: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group structure.
