Guide for Authors
About the Journal
- The scope of the Fuzzy Optimization and Modeling Journal been expanded in order to encompass all aspects of the optimization and modeling field, while underscoring its distinctive role as a conduit between the malleability of human representations and the precision and lucidity of mathematical or computerized representations, whether numerical or symbolic.
- The journal welcomes original and significant contributions in the field of fuzzy optimization and modeling, whether based on empirical or mathematical foundations, or their applications to any domain of information technology, and more generally to any field of investigation where fuzzy set theory are relevant. The journal welcomes submissions of applied papers that demonstrate the practical utility of fuzzy methodology. Fuzzy Optimization and Modeling Journal publishes high-quality research articles, surveys and case studies. Additionally, the journal features invited review articles on topics of general interest.
Article Processing Charge (APC):
FOMJ does not charge for article processing during submission, refereeing, or publication.
Article Types:
Research articles, review articles, case studies, and technical notes.
Peer Review Process:
This journal follows a double anonymized review process. Your submission will initially be assessed by our editors to determine suitability for publication in this journal. If your submission is deemed suitable, it will typically be sent to a minimum of two reviewers for an independent expert assessment of the scientific quality. The decision as to whether your article is accepted or rejected will be taken by our editors.
Permissions:
Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
Writing and Formatting
File Format:
We ask you to provide editable source files for your entire submission (including figures, tables and text graphics). Failing to submit a complete set of editable source files will result in your article not being considered for review. For your manuscript text please always submit in common word processing formats such as .docx or .doc.
For submissions, we encourage authors to use our Template Word when preparing a submission.
Some guidelines:
- Save files in an editable format, using the extension .doc/.docx for Word files. A PDF is not an acceptable source file.
- Use spell-check and grammar-check functions to avoid errors.
Title page:
You are required to include the following details in the title page information:
- Article title. Article titles should be concise and informative. Please avoid abbreviations and formulae, where possible, unless they are established and widely understood.
- Author names. Provide the given name(s) and family name(s) of each author. The order of authors should match the order in the submission system. Carefully check that all names are accurately spelled. If needed, you can add your name between parentheses in your own script after the English transliteration.
- Affiliations. Add affiliation addresses, referring to where the work was carried out, below the author names. Ensure that you provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name and, if available, the email address of each author.
- Corresponding author. Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence for your article at all stages of the refereeing and publication process and also post-publication. This responsibility includes answering any future queries about your results, data, methodology and materials. It is important that the email address and contact details of your corresponding author are kept up to date during the submission and publication process.
Abstract:
You are required to provide a concise and factual abstract which does not exceed 250 words. The abstract should briefly state the purpose of your research, principal results and major conclusions. Some guidelines:
- Abstracts must be able to stand alone as abstracts are often presented separately from the article.
- Avoid references. If any are essential to include, ensure that you cite the author(s) and year(s).
- Avoid non-standard or uncommon abbreviations. If any are essential to include, ensure they are defined within your abstract at first mention.
Math Formulae:
- Submit math equations as editable text, not as images.
- Present simple formulae in line with normal text, where possible.
- Use the solidus (/) instead of a horizontal line for small fractional terms such as X/Y.
- Present variables in italics.
- Display equations separately from your text, numbering them consecutively in the order they are referred to within your text.
Tables:
Tables must be submitted as editable text, not as images. Some guidelines:
- Place tables next to the relevant text or on a separate page(s) at the end of your article.
- Cite all tables in the manuscript text.
- Number tables consecutively according to their appearance in the text.
- Please provide captions along with the tables.
- Place any table notes below the table body.
- Avoid vertical rules and shading within table cells.
Figures:
- All figures are to be numbered using Arabic numerals.
- Figures should always be cited in the text in consecutive numerical order.
- Figures should be placed as close as possible to where they are cited.
- Figure parts should be denoted by lowercase letters (a, b, c, etc.).
- Each figure should have a concise caption describing accurately what the figure depicts. Include the captions in the manuscript's text file, not the figure file.
- Figure captions begin with the term Figure. in bold type, followed by the figure number in bold type and blue color.
- Identify all elements found in the figure in the figure caption, and use boxes, circles, etc., as coordinate points in graphs.
- Identify previously published material by giving the original source as a reference citation at the end of the figure caption.
- Figures should be submitted within the body of the text. Only if the file size of the manuscript causes problems in uploading it the large figures should be submitted separately from the text.
- When preparing your figures, size figures to fit in the column width.
- Figure captions should be center-aligned below the figures, Garamaod 10 points, bold, and in sentence case.
