In this paper, a novel algorithm for the load flow analysis problem in an islanded microgrid is proposed. The problem is modeled without any slack bus by considering the steady state frequency as one of the load flow variables. To model different control modes of DGs, such as droop, PV and PQ, in an islanded microgrid, a new formula for load flow equations is proposed. A hybrid optimization algorithm, named (ICGA), is developed, based on imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) and genetic algorithm (GA) thinking, to minimize the total active and reactive power mismatch in the islanded microgrid. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with the GA, Newton-trust and time domain methods. The results provide support for the validity of the paper algorithm. Manuscript profile

A new technique presents to improve the performance of dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) for voltage sag mitigation. This control scheme is based on cuckoo search algorithm with tree fuzzy rule based classifier (CSA-TFRC). CSA is used for optimizing the output of TFRC so the classification output of the network is enhanced. While, the combination of cuckoo search algorithm, fuzzy and decision tree classifier can create a hybrid classifier. Here, Fuzzy and decision tree algorithm will be sufficiently combined with cuckoo search algorithm. The proposed CSA-TFRC algorithm based DVR is simulated in MATLAB software with comparison of traditional DVR and neuro-fuzzy based DVR. Results show the ability of proposed algorithm to detect the voltage sag and make a fast compensation deals. Manuscript profile

Smart distribution networks (SDNs) plays a significant role in future power networks. Accordingly, the optimal scheduling of such networks, which include planning of consumers and production sections, inconsiderably concerned in recent research studies. In this paper, the optimal planning of energy and reserve of SDNs has been studied. Technical constraints of distribution network and power generation units are satisfied in the optimal solution of day-ahead scheduling of the network. The proposed model is studied on a case instance for evaluating the performance and analyzing the optimal solution. A modified IEEE 32-bus test system is considered as test system, in which three wind turbines and four diesel generators are placed. Industrial, residential and commercial consumers can use demand response programs to change electrical energy consuming scheduling. In this paper, incentive based demand response programs are studied for improving the optimal solution. Two demand response providers and two industrial loads are taken into account for employing demand response programs. The obtained optimal solutions are prepared and analyzed, which shows the effectiveness of the proposed model. Manuscript profile

This article proposed a novel topology of dynamic voltage regulator using transformer and PWM multi-level AC/AC converter. In this paper for finding the best value of duty ratio for switches to minimize the THD, the GA algorithm has been used and THD output voltage is assumed to be fitness function. The proposed voltage regulator employs multi-level AC/AC converter to generate compensation voltage and uses the transformer to isolate the power converter from the load. The proposed converter provides a highly sinusoidal and regulated output voltage with a simple topology. When input voltage under-voltage and overvoltage occur, the output voltage can be regulated by changing the duty ratio of the PWM control signals. The transformer is connected in series with the load. Thus, the load voltage can be kept stable when input voltage fluctuations occur. For this purpose, PI controller has been designed to perform the close-loop control. The proposed converter and control strategy present the advantages of fast dynamic response and effective compensation to the voltage fluctuations. Simulations are made to investigate the performances of the proposed converter. The simulation results show that the designed voltage regulator has fast transient response, and can suppress the load voltage fluctuations effectively. Manuscript profile

This paper presents a new islanding detection method based on the difference of the power transfer angle between the distributed generation and local load. After islanding, current id and iq will be changed by adding the variation to d_q transformation block of current. This makes voltage and frequency disturbance and therefore islanding is recognized. Active islanding detection method usually has a negative effect on power quality .The great advantage of this method include small negative impact on power quality. Performance of the proposed method will be evaluated and simulation results will be presented. Manuscript profile
