        Achieving proportionate levels of accuracy and fluency in oral proficiency seems extremely far-fetched to many adult learners whose enthusiasm to learn through participation in communicative tasks is adversely influenced by aversive affective factors like shyness and communication apprehension (CA). The present correlational study explored Iranian English learners’ shyness and CA, and the accuracy and fluency of their task-based performance for any probable association. The research participants comprised a homogenous sample of 50 female learners from a pool of 70 intermediate learners. The revised Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale (RCBS) (Cheek, 1983), and Personal Report of Communication Apprehension-24 (McCroskey, 1982) were employed to measure the participants’ shyness and CA. A narrative picture-description task was used to elicit and record the participants’ oral performance. Further statistical analyses of the data verified that the group was within the shyness and apprehension range and that these features were negatively correlated with the fluency and accuracy of their speech. The findings underscore the need to help learners overcome these deterrent variables to enhance their disrupted and inaccurate performance. Pedagogical implications will be discussed in the paper. پرونده مقاله

        The present study investigated the relationships among willingness to communicate, communication apprehension, and self-perceived communication competence in Persian (L1) versus English (L2). A total number of 235 adult native Persian EFL learners were selected through convenience sampling to participate in the study. The population consisted of 118 intermediate learners and 113 upper-intermediate learners. The transferability and predictability of these communication variables across L1 and L2 was checked through correlational analyses and linear regression. The findings showed that among these variables communication apprehension was more of a trait-like predisposition which was transferred across first language and foreign language. WTC in Persian had little predictive effect on WTC in English; also, self-perceived communication competence in Persian predicted only 15% of SPCC in English. Implications of findings could provide teachers insight into the extent to which these communication variables are trait-like or situational. پرونده مقاله

        Willingness to communicate (WTC) plays a central role in learning a second/foreign language. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of doing problem-solving task on learners’ WTC in English. To fulfill the purpose of the study, 61 pre-intermediate learners were chosen by means of administrating a placement test. Learners were pretested through three scales of WTC and its two antecedents: self-perceived communication competence (SPCC) and communication apprehension (CA). Of course, the experimental group was provided with fifteen problem-solving tasks during the course, while the control group was not. After fifteen sessions of the treatment, two groups were posttested through the same three scales. The results demonstrated that the experimental group outperformed the control group in terms of their WTC’s level. Moreover, the learners’ WTC was found to be directly related to their SPCC and indirectly related to CA. So based on the MacIntyre’s path model (1994), these both antecedents can be the best predictors of WTC.         This study embarks upon uncovering the probable difference in willingness to communicate between Iranian male and female EFL learners. To undertake the present research, it was limited to socio-cognitive perspective. More precisely, it aimed to distinguish the types and frequency of socio-cognitive strategies used by Iranian students as far as their gender was concerned. In doing so, 32 advance learners (16 males and 16 females) were asked to fill up a WTC and Socio-cultural strategy use questionnaire. The result revealed that both groups were similar in the cognitive strategy use. In addition, males were more willingness to communicate than female learners. This finding has implication for language teachers, social sciences, psycho-linguistic and socio-linguistic teachers and learner. پرونده مقاله

        Speaking is deemed by many scholars as a fundamental skill in second language (L2) learning. From the myriad of factors playing a role in willingness to communicate (WTC) in a foreign language, communication apprehension and self-perceived competence have attracted a good deal of interest in recent decades. Furthermore, it is generally agreed that cooperative teaching can enhance learners' linguistic and psychological variables. To unravel the aforementioned dilemmas, 60 male and female EFL learners within the age range of 19 to 25(i.e., 30 each) were selected out of 100 participants via double sampling from several English institutes in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan province and were assigned equally to an experimental and a control group. Subsequently, the treatment started where the experimental group was taught based on cooperative teaching, while the control group received conventional treatment. Before and after the treatment, three questionnaires (WTC, communication apprehension and self-perceived competence) were given to all the participants in three different phases. After collecting the data, they were analyzed descriptively. Finally, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was run. The findings of the study highlighted that there is a negative correlation between communication apprehension and WTC as well as a positive correlation between self-perceived competence and WTC of Iranian EFL learners in post intervention. The findings further indicated that cooperative teaching can influence learners' WTC, self-perceived competence and communication apprehension. پرونده مقاله

        چکیده داشتن توانایی ارتباطی مناسب برای دانش‌آموختگانی که در آستانه ورود به حرفه هستند، ضروری است. ازآنجاکه کاهش ‎فاصله توانمندی دانش‌آموختگان و انتظار کارآفرینان از آنان می‌تواند به توسعه حرفه‌ای منجر شود و ارتباط مناسب نیز ‎یکی از مقوله‌های مهم مطرح‌شده در این حوزه است، ضرورت پژوهش حاضر روشن می‌شود. هدف این پژوهش، مطالعه ‎رابطه دلهره ارتباطی و خودکارآمدی کار گروهی با نقش میانجی خودکارآمدی ارتباطی با استفاده از رویکرد محرک، ‎ارگانیسم، پاسخ در دانشجویان حسابداری مقاطع مختلف کشور است. مطالعه پیش رو از نوع پیمایشی کاربردی است. ‎همچنین، بررسی موضوع به‌وسیله پرسشنامه و نمونه‌گیری به‌صورت تصادفی ساده از 168 نفر از دانشجویان حسابداری ‎مقاطع و دانشگاه‌های مختلف کشور در زمستان 1401 صورت گرفت. برای تحلیل یافته‌ها در قالب 3 فرضیه اصلی، ‎از روش معادلات ساختاری توسط نرم‌افزار Smart PLS، استفاده شد. یافته‌های پژوهش نشان داد که بین دلهره ‎ارتباطی و خودکارآمدی ارتباطی رابطه منفی و معناداری وجود دارد. همچنین، بین خودکارآمدی ارتباطی و خودکارآمدی ‎کار گروهی نیز رابطه مثبت و معناداری مشاهده شد. مطالعه روند علی پژوهش در دو فرضیه ابتدایی نیز نشان می‌دهد ‎که نقش میانجی خودکارآمدی ارتباطی بر رابطه دلهره ارتباطی و خودکارآمدی کار گروهی مورد تائید است. درنتیجه بر ‎اساس یافته‌ها، لازم است در راستای توسعه حرفه‌ای و پوشش نیازهای بازار کار دانشجویان حسابداری، به مهارت‌های ‎نرم ازجمله مهارت‌های ارتباطی بیش‌ازپیش توجه شود پرونده مقاله
