In this study, the buckling response of homogeneous circular plates with variable thickness subjected to radial compression based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory in conjunction with von-Karman nonlinear strain-displacement relations is investigated. Furthermore, optimal thickness distribution over the plate with respect to buckling is presented. In order to determine the distribution of the prebuckling load along the radius, the membrane equation is solved using the shooting method. Subsequently, employing the pseudospectral method that makes use of Chebyshev polynomials, the stability equations are solved. The influence of the boundary conditions, the thickness variation profile and aspect ratio on the buckling behavior is examined. The comparison shows that the results derived, using the current method, compare very well with those available in the literature. پرونده مقاله

Elastic stability of ring and stringer-stiffened cylindrical shells under axial, internal and external pressures is studied using Ritz method. The stiffeners are rings, stringers and their different arrangements at the inner and outer surfaces of the shell. Critical buckling loads are obtained using Ritz method. It has been found that the cylindrical shells with outside rings are more stable than those with inside rings under axial compressive loading. The critical buckling load for inside rings is reducing by increasing the eccentricity of the rings, while for outside ring stiffeners the magnitude of eccentricity does not affect the critical buckling load. It has also been found that the shells with inside stringers are more stable than those with outside one. Moreover, the stability of cylindrical shells under internal and external pressures is almost the same for inside and outside arrangements of stringers. The results are verified by comparing with the results of Singer at the same loading and boundary conditions. پرونده مقاله

This paper studied Buckling analysis of porous truncated conical shell subjected to axial load. It is considered that a fluid undrained between porous material and the Porous material properties vary across the thickness of shell with a specific function also assumed that the edge of the shell is simply supported. The governing equations are based on the Sanders kinematics equations and the first-order shell theory and by using of variational formulations. The general mechanical non-linear equilibrium and linear stability equations are derived. At the end, the result of dimensionless buckling critical load ratio dimensionless thickness in different condition such as variation in thickness, porosity and angle of conical shell is investigated. The mechanical load results are verified by the known results in the literature. پرونده مقاله

This study presents critical buckling of functionally graded soft ferromagnetic porous (FGFP) rectangular plates, under magnetic field with simply supported boundary condition. Equilibrium and stability equations of a porous rectangular plate in transverse magnetic field are derived. The geometrical nonlinearities are considered in the Love-Kirchhoff hypothesis sense. The formulations are compared to those of homogeneous isotropic plates were given in the literature. In this paper the effect of pore pressure on critical magnetic field of plate and the effect of important parameters of poroelastic material on buckling capacity are investigated. Also the compressibility of fluid and porosity on the buckling strength are studied. پرونده مقاله

In this paper, buckling behavior of symmetric functionally graded plates resting on elastic foundation is investigated and their critical buckling load in different conditions is calculated and compared. Plate governing equations are derived using the principle of minimum potential energy. Afterwards, displacement field is solved using Galerkin method and the proposed process is examined through numerical examples. Effect of FGM power law index, plate aspect ratio, elastic foundation stiffness and metal core thickness on critical buckling load is investigated. The accuracy of this approach is verified by comparing its results to those obtained in another work, which is performed using Fourier series expansion. پرونده مقاله

In present study, thermo-elastic buckling analysis of multi-layer orthotropic annular/circular graphene sheets is investigated based on Eringen’s theory. The moderately thick and also thick nano-plates are considered. Using the non-local first and third order shear deformation theories, the governing equations are derived. The van der Waals interaction between the layers is simulated for multi-layer sheets. The stability governing equations are obtained according to the adjacent equilibrium estate method. The constitutive equations are solved by applying the differential quadrature method (DQM). Applying the differential quadrature method, the ordinary differential equations are transformed to algebraic equations. Then, the critical temperature is obtained. Since there is not any research in thermo-elastic buckling analysis of multi-layer graphene sheets, the results are validated with available single layer articles. The effects of non-local parameter, the values of van der Waals interaction between the layers, third to first order shear deformation theory analyses, non-local to local analyses, different values of Winkler and Pasternak elastic foundation and analysis of bi-layer and triple layer sheets are investigated. It is concluded that the critical temperature increases and tends to a constant value along the rise of van der Waals interaction between the layers. پرونده مقاله

Due to their light weights and high load carrying capacities, composite structures are widely used in various industrial applications especially in aerospace industry. Stiffening ribs are the main features of lattice type composite structures. Strength to weight ratio is known to be as one of the most critical design parameter in these structures. In this study, the effect of some parameters such as the physical characteristics of the material, shell thickness, angle, thickness and number of ribs on distribution of stresses and buckling loads of shell are investigated. For this purpose, 3D finite element analysis using ANSYS software explicitly was done and then compared with experimental test results. Increasing the thickness of the outer shell causes the structural strength will rise to 50 percent. The next effective parameter is reduction of rib angle which provides an increase of 30 percent in specific load. Although Stiffenerrs (ribs) have a major role in load carrying, but increasing the rib number causes the structural weight rises, thus compared with the two previous parameters do not have a significant effect on the strength of structures پرونده مقاله
