Although it is mandatory for smallholder farmers to comply with Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) to participate in French bean farming for export, they lack uniformity in their farming practices. Available literature doesn't show whether farmers’ compliance with GAPs is affected by their choices of extension channels and their social status characteristics. A field survey was conducted among 115 farmers who were sampled systematically, and the data was collected by the use of questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively and by Chi-square, Pearson's correlation, and regression models to establish the association between social status characteristics of farmers versus extension channels accessed, and its influence on awareness and compliance with GAPs. The study found that farmers' level of access to extension channels had a significant influence on their level of awareness and compliance with GAPs. Field extension workers were the most effective channel of extension. Moreover, gender, asset scores, farm acreage under French beans and income from the sale of French beans were among the social characteristics with significant influence on the type and number of extension channels accessed by smallholder farmers. This study recommends that the dissemination of agricultural innovation messages to smallholder farmers should be guided by studying their social characteristics and paying attention to women and resource-poor farmers. innovation messages should be tailored along available channels of extension to enhance access by a diverse calibre of farmers. پرونده مقاله

One of the central duties of rural production cooperatives is to promote the adoption and application of sustainable agricultural practices by farmers, which hinges on several factors. Therefore, the study intends to evaluate the factors influencing the application of sustainable agricultural practices by paddy farmers. The research population included from all includes all paddy farmers as members of the production cooperatives in rural areas of Sari County, Iran (N=4160). A total of 162 farmers were selected through stratified sampling technique. The data was gathered through questionnaires, that its face validity was verified by a panel of experts, and its reliability was obtained through a pilot test (Alpha Cronbach coefficient, 0.93). The results showed that the application of sustainable agricultural practices was generally good. Moreover, the findings showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the age, using information sources, family members, cultivating area, production amount, social status, access to inputs, participating in extension training courses and economic factors with the application of sustainable agricultural practices. The stepwise linear regression analysis results showed that the variables of cultivating area/hectare, economic facilities, participating in extension training courses and age can determine 61.8% variation of the application of sustainable agricultural practices by paddy farmers as members of rural production cooperatives. پرونده مقاله

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the major barriers to application of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) technologies in sustainability of livestock by ranchers of Meshkinshahr. A sample of 120 farmers was selected by using proportional random sampling method. Data were collected by means of a questionnaire. Validity of questionnaire was determined through Agricultural Jihad exports of Meshkinshahr County and some faculty members at University of Tehran, Department of Agricultural Management and Development. Cronbach’s alpha was used to estimate the reliability. The reliability was found to be acceptable. The results of Factor Analysis showed that infrastructure barriers, informational- educational barriers, institutional-support barriers, personal barriers, economical barriers were the five barriers to application of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) technologies in livestock unites. These factors explained 67.23 percent of the total variance. پرونده مقاله

Employing a factorial experiment design with three repetitions, we examined the first factor - chemical fertilizers - at three distinct levels, comprising the recommended 100% NPK dosage as a control, 50% of the recommended NPK (NPK50), and 75% of the recommended NPK (NPK75). The second factor was animal fertilizers, which we studied at four levels: cow manure, sheep manure, chicken manure, and a control group. Notably, the highest dry weight of the entire peppermint plant, an impressive 22.98 g, was achieved through a treatment utilizing 75% of the recommended NPK in conjunction with chicken manure. Conversely, the lowest dry weight for the entire peppermint plant was recorded in the recommended 50% NPK treatment without the use of animal manure, yielding a mere 13.9 g. Lemon balm and zufa plants, under the recommended 100% NPK treatment without animal manure, displayed maximum dry weights of 18.18 and 5.07 g, respectively. In contrast, the lowest dry weight for these plants was observed in the recommended 50% NPK treatment without animal manure, with rates of 5.87 and 18.1 g, respectively. Our results demonstrated the positive impact of employing 100% of the recommended NPK fertilizer without animal manure on the growth of the studied plant organs. Conversely, by reducing the application of both chemical fertilizers and animal manure, the growth conditions of these plants were markedly improved, resulting in significant enhancements in various measured parameters. It is worth noting that an excessive influx of inputs did not lead to increased growth. پرونده مقاله
