The Supply Chain Network Design (SCND) with perishability is an active research topic. The Agri-fresh Food Supply Chain (AFSC) is a relevant topic to SCND and this study aims to model a new AFSC for a real-world case study. Regarding the traditional AFSC, the geographically dispersed small farmers transport their product individually to market for selling. This leads to a higher transportation cost, which is the major cause of farmers’ low profitability. This paper formulates a traditional product movement model to represent the existing AFSC. The concept of sharing economic approach is employed by the aggregate and collaborative transportation of products to minimize transportation inefficiency. This paper proposes an aggregate product movement with the vehicle routing model to re-design an AFSC for a case study in Iran based on the data of ETKA Company-the largest domestic agri-fresh food supply chain. A four-echelon, multi-period, Mixed Integer Non-Linear Programming (MINLP) approach for the proposed location-inventory-routing model is formulated for perishable products via considering the clustering of farmers to minimize the total distribution cost. پرونده مقاله

The most well-known uni-arribute control chart used to monitor the number of nonconformities per unit is the Shewhart type C-chart. In this paper, a new method is proposed in an attempt to reduce the false alarm rate in the C-chart. To do this, the decision on beliefs (DOB) concept is first uti [1] Corresponding author e-mail: f.kangi@yahoo.com lized to design an iterative method, where the belief is used to decide whether a process is in an in-control or out-of-control state. Then, a new statistic is defined based on the DOB and the chart is designed accordingly. Some simulation experiments are also performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme and to compare its in-control and out-of-control average run length (ARL) with those of the C and the EWMA charts in different scenarios of mean shifts. Finally, a case study is given to illustrate the application of the proposed methodology. The results show the proposed control chart outperforms the other two charts. پرونده مقاله

In some statistical process control applications, quality of a process or product can be characterized by a relationship between a response and one or more independent variables, which is typically referred to a profile. In this paper, polynomial profiles are considered to monitor processes in which there is a first order autoregressive relation between the error terms in each profile. A remedial measure is first proposed to eliminate the effect of autocorrelation in phase-ІІ monitoring of autocorrelated profiles. Then, three methods are employed to monitor polynomial profiles where their performances are compared using the average run length criterion. پرونده مقاله

The multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) control chart is one of the best statistical control chart that are usually used to detect simultaneous small deviations on the mean of more than one cross-correlated quality characteristics. The economic design of MEWMA control charts involves solving a combinatorial optimization model that is composed of a nonlinear cost function and traditional linear constraints. The cost function in this model is a complex nonlinear function that formulates the cost of implementing the MEWMA chart economically. An economically designed MEWMA chart to possess desired statistical properties requires some additional statistical constraints to be an economic-statistical model. In this paper, the efficiency of some major evolutionary algorithms that are employed in economic and economic-stati stical design of a MEWMA control chart are discussed comparatively and the results are presented. Theinvestigated evolutionary algorithms are simulated annealing (SA), differential evolution (DE), genetic algorithm (GA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO), which are the most well known algorithms to solve complex combinatorial optimization problems. The major metrics to evaluate the algorithms are (i) the quality of the best solution obtained, (ii) the trends of responses in approaching the optimum value, (iii) the average objective-function-value in all trials, and (iv) the computer processing time to achieve the optimum value. The result of the investigation for the economic design shows that while GA is the most powerful algorithm, PSO is the second to the best, and then DE and SA come to the picture. For economic-statistical design, while PSO is the best and GA is the second to the best, DE and SA have similar performances. پرونده مقاله

Statistically constrained economic design for profiles usually refers to the selection of some parameters such as the sample size, sampling interval, smoothing constant, and control limit for minimizing the total implementation cost while the designed profiles demonstrate a proper statistical performance. In this paper, the Lorenzen-Vance function is first used to model the implementation costs. Then, this function is extended by the Taguchi loss function to involve intangible costs. Next, a multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) method is employed to optimize the extended model. The parameters of the MOPSO are tuned using response surface methodology (RSM). In addition, data envelopment analysis (DEA) is employed to find efficient solutions among all near-optimum solutions found by MOPSO. Finally, a sensitivity analysis based on the principal parameters of the cost function is applied to evaluate the impacts of changes on the main parameters. The results show that the proposed model is robust on some parameters such as the cost of detecting and repairing an assignable cause, variable cost of sampling, and fixed cost of sampling. پرونده مقاله

Owing to rising intentional events, supply chain disruptions have been considered by setting up a game between two players, namely, a designer and an interdictor contesting on minimizing and maximizing total cost, respectively. The previous studies have found the equilibrium solution by taking transportation, penalty and restoration cost into account. To contribute further, we examine how incorporation of inventory cost influences the players’ strategies. Assuming risk-averse feature of the designer and fully optimizing property of the interdictor with limited budget, the conditional-value-at-risk is employed to be involved in total cost. Using special order sets of type two and duality role, the linearized tri-level problem is solved by column-and-constraint generation and benders decomposition algorithms in terms of small-sized instances. In terms of larger-sized instances, we also contribute to prior studies by hybridizing corresponding algorithms with bio-geography based optimization method. Another non-trivial extension of our work is to define adapted stochastic measures based on the proposed mean-risk tri-level formulation. Borrowing instances from prior papers, the computational results indicate the managerial insights on players’ decisions, the model’s efficiency and performance of the algorithms. پرونده مقاله

Availability and reliability of a manufacturing system are the most common indicators in the reliability engineering area to assess the quality and on-time deliveries of the products they produce. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the availability, reliability. failure metrics such as MTBF and MTTF, and also steady-state availability of a cooking oilproduction line using a Markov approach. The product line works in three consecutive shifts 24 hours a day, for which five main subsystems are identified for the analysis. The results show that the first shift has the best performance in terms of reliability while the second shift has the worst performance. To improve the reliability of the production line, a corrective maintenance policy is used. First, the critical components of the subsystems are identified using the Pareto charts, and then, by increasing the repair rates, the availability of the production line in all three shifts is increased. پرونده مقاله

Standby redundancy is a common and fundamental technique for increasing the reliability and availability of various systems. Cold-standby state is one of the most important strategies that are well used in non-repairable systems and plays an important role in mission-critical systems reliability, such as space exploration and satellite systems. In this paper, closed-form equations are derived using the Markov method to calculate the reliability function and the meantime to failure of a 1-out-of-n cold-standby system with non-repairable components under imperfect switching. While it is assumed that the failures of the switch and its associated active components are independent of each other, a constant failure rate is considered for the components and an increasing constant failure rate for the switch as it is used more frequently. In the end, numerical examples are solved for a system with various numbers of components to demonstrate the application of the closed-form equations. پرونده مقاله

In this paper the real-world occurrence of the multiple-product multiple-constraint single period newsboy problem with two objectives, in which there is incremental discounts on the purchasing prices, is investigated. The constraints are the warehouse capacity and the batch forms of the order placements. The first objective of this problem is to find the order quantities such that the expected profit is maximized and the second objective is maximizing the service rate. It is assumed that holding and shortage costs, modeled by a quadratic function, occur at the end of the period, and that the decision variables are integer. A formulation to the problem is presented and shown to be an integer nonlinear programming model. Finally, an efficient hybrid algorithm of harmony search, goal programming, and fuzzy simulation is provided to solve the model. The results are illustrated by a numerical example. پرونده مقاله

In this paper, first the available single charting methods, which have been proposed to detect simultaneous shifts in a single process mean and variance, are reviewed. Then, by designing proper simulation studies these methods are evaluated in terms of in-control and out-ofcontrol average run length criteria (ARL). The results of these simulation experiments show that the EWMA and EWMS methods are quite capable to detect large shifts in the means and variances. However, while the two EWMV procedures under study do not perform well, the Max-Min EWMA and Max-EWMA perform very well in all scenarios of mean and variance shifts. پرونده مقاله

In this paper, absorbing Markov chain models are developed to determine the optimum process mean levels for both a single-stage and a serial two-stage production system in which items are inspected for conformity with their specification limits. When the value of the quality characteristic of an item falls below a lower limit, the item is scrapped. If it falls above an upper limit, the item is reworked. Otherwise, the item passes the inspection. This flow of material through the production system can be modeled in an absorbing Markov chain characterizing the uncertainty due to scrapping and reworking. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the application of the proposed model. پرونده مقاله

In this research, an integrated inventory problem is formulated for a single-vendor multiple-retailer supply chain that works according to the vendor managed inventory policy. The model is derived based on the economic order quantity in which shortages with penalty costs at the retailers` level is permitted. As predicting customer demand is the most important problem in inventory systems and there are difficulties to estimate it, a probabilistic demand is considered to model the problem. In addition, all retailers are assumed to share a unique number of replenishments where their demands during lead-time follow a uniform distribution. Moreover, there is a vendor-related budget constraint dedicated to each retailer. The aim is to determine the near optimal or optimal order quantity of the retailers, the order points, and the number of replenishments so that the total inventory cost of the system is minimized. The proposed model is an integer nonlinear programming problem (NILP); hence, a meta-heuristic namely genetic algorithm (GA) is employed to solve it. As there is no benchmark available in the literature to validate the results obtained, another meta-heuristic called firefly algorithm (FA) is used for validation and verification. To achieve better solutions, the parameters of both meta-heuristics are calibrated using the Taguchi method. Several numerical examples are solved at the end to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed methodology and to compare the performance of the solution approaches. پرونده مقاله
