Introduction The aim of this study was to investigate the role of postural abnormalities on public health, quality of life and job satisfaction among employees.
Methods The study subjects were employees of Islamic Azad University, Isfahan Branch (Khorasgan). The statistical population of this study consisted of all male and female employees of the administrative department of Islamic Azad University, Isfahan Branch (Khorasgan), which included 133 women and 290 men. Also, the main variables of the study included: individual characteristics such as age, gender, length of employment, physical health, mental health, social relationships and environmental health, satisfaction with salary, job promotion, supervision, fringe benefits, rewards, executive processes, colleagues, nature of work and information, physical complaints, anxiety and insomnia, social maladjustment and severe depression. In order to assess the public health of employees in this study, the Goldberg General Health Questionnaire was used, and in order to assess the quality of life of employees in this study, the valid questionnaire of the World Health Organization BREF-WHOQOL was used, and to measure job satisfaction, the Spector Job Satisfaction Scale was used.
Results In general, it can be concluded that the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders can affect the daily life of individuals and cause a decrease in intellectual and academic efficiency, premature fatigue, physical pain, and decreased self-confidence. Also, given that this study showed that there is a significant relationship between job satisfaction and the prevalence of symptoms of some physical abnormalities (knees crossed in both gender groups), the prevalence of these disorders can be reduced by increasing the level of job satisfaction. Accordingly, it can be said that improving wages, bonuses, and promotions can be appropriate tools to reduce physical abnormalities.
Conclusion In general, it can be concluded that the role of musculoskeletal disorders in the spine is due to lack of physical activity, bone and muscle diseases, inappropriate desks and chairs, poor sitting, walking, sleeping, etc., which can affect the daily life of individuals and cause reduced intellectual and academic efficiency, premature fatigue, physical pain, and decreased self-confidence, all of which will affect the quality of life and mental and psychological health of individuals. Therefore, identifying them at the appropriate age will prevent these problems. Also, given that this study showed that there is a significant relationship between job satisfaction and the prevalence of symptoms of some physical abnormalities (genu valgum in both gender groups), the role of these disorders can be reduced by increasing the level of job satisfaction. Accordingly, it can be said that improving wages, bonuses, and promotions can be appropriate tools to reduce physical abnormalities. According to the results of the present study, it is suggested that in order to correct the posture of employees, corrective exercise and physical fitness classes should be held at least three times a week by talented students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences for these individuals. Brochures and catalogs should be prepared by the Faculty of Sport Sciences to inform employees about correct posture. Directors and senior vice presidents should be more fully informed about the relationship between employees' posture and their physical and work quality and efficiency and job satisfaction. Educational workshops should be held for university employees on the principles of correct implementation of employee activities and sitting at a desk and working with a computer. Due to the importance of employees' health and physical condition, monthly discount vouchers for sports and health centers should be provided to employees so that they can visit these centers regularly during their free time at home with their families.
