Personal development includes formal and informal training and programs, and helps to understand and strengthen the skills and competencies necessary to achieve the goals of the personal development program. Given the importance of this program, the present study was conducted with the aim of designing a personal development model in knowledge-based companies. The nature of the research is applied; the research method and method are qualitative; the research approach is inductive; the paradigm governing the research is interpretative; the research strategy is grounded theory, and the source of data collection includes the study of theoretical foundations and interviews. The statistical population of the study consisted of 2 groups, including managers of knowledge-based companies, and academic faculty professors in the fields of management and psychology at public and private universities. Using a non-probability purposeful snowball sampling method, the opinions of 20 of them were collected through semi-structured interviews until theoretical saturation was reached. Acceptability, transferability, and confirmability were used to estimate validity, and the internal consistency method (Cronbach's alpha coefficient = 0.91) was used to measure reliability. In order to analyze the data, the coding method was used in three stages of open, axial, and selective coding. All coding stages were carried out by MaxQuda software, version 2020. The findings led to the identification of 5 key dimensions (environmental factors, organizational factors, management factors, individual factors, process and actions, and individual competencies) for personal development. This model can be used and exploited in other companies and industries.
