In the recent years, the widespread interest in the relationship between emotional intelligence and performance has led to the development of a substantial body of literature. In spite of this ongoing attention, the subject of emotional intelligence and performance is still in a contradictory and controversial phase. Thus, a need remains for the development and testing of hypotheses relating the different dimensions of the emotional intelligence to performance. The goal of this research was to extend prior work on individual competencies and performance and investigate the possible relationship between academic staff members’ competencies (self awareness and self management) and their educational performance and to determine the role of their working life quality as an intervening variable. The results based on 930 questionnaire responses collected from 72 universities in a field study indicate that the extent of educational performance is positively and significantly associated with their self awareness and self management. Besides, the quality of the university working life interferes with the relationship between these variables.  Manuscript profile

This paper attempted to study the psychometric characteristics of the “quality of working life” questionnaire and its relationship with “burnout” among Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism organization employees. To this purpose, a sample group of 350 people were selected through an accessible population sampling, and answered to two questionnaires: the quality of work life with 27 questions and the burnout with 25 questions (in both intensity and frequency). To Show the reliability of the scale, the general formula of “Cronbach's Alpha” was used which was reported to be 0.930. To check the validity, the factor analysis was used and structures and components on this scale with (KMO) index and Bartlett were investigated. The validity of the results of KMO= 0.902 and Bartlett was equal to 4561.295 and factor analysis showed that by eliminating a factor due to low load factor, the questionnaire consists of six main factors was saturated. These six factors (the rule of law and obedience to law, social Solidarity and integration, providing opportunities for growth and security, the development of human capabilities, the fair and adequate payment, overall living space) determined 62.134% of the variance of variables. Multivariate regression analysis showed that the components of fair payment in the amount of  -0.229, and the general space of life in the amount of  -0.129 have influence on Burnout which comparing them, the fair payment has had the most impossible effect. The results showed that with reinforcement or reducing some of the quality of work life components, it is enable to establish the mental health, prepared social and work life for staff, the staffs effective leading for managers, and compensate the lack of information in order to have a useful work planning and boost the organization efficiency for planners Manuscript profile
