This research is of causal-comparative research type done with the aim of comparing selective information processing and the role of cognitive attention in the process of anxiety disorders (GAD and PTSD). In this research three groups of subjects including a normal group, the group with generalized anxiety disorder and the group of cases with post-traumatic stress disorders (selected of psychological clinics and private psychiatrics clinics in Neyshabour) were selected randomly and then tested in a stroop test and a recognition test. The results of the study indicated that patients with generalized anixiety disorder was compared with other groups, their attention bias was toward signs of physical and social threat. Although patients with PTSD showed attention bias just toward threatening signs of PTSD, processing these stimuli selectively. One other findings of the study indicates that in contrast with more processing of signs of social and physical threat in the generalized anxiety disorder group and threat signs related to PTSD group, three groups were related to remembering the sings after the test. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of mindfulness in predicting symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, job stress and job burnout in Tabriz firefighters in the year 2019. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of this study consisted all of 640 Tabriz firefighters. Finally, 127 of them were selected by cluster sampling. The Burnout Inventory (MBI) (Maslach, 1991), Mississippi scale for combat-related PTSD (M-PTSD) (Norris, Reed, 1997), The Freiburg Mindfulness Inventory (FMI) Short Form (Walach et al. 2006), and Job Stress Scale )Cooper, Marshall, 1976( were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using regression analysis. Findings showed that mindfulness plays a role in predicting post-traumatic stress disorder (β=0.307), job stress (β=0.228) and job burnout (β=0.179). Mindfulness can also negatively predict having post-traumatic stress disorder, stress problems and job burnout in firefighters. Manuscript profile

Eight months after the destructive earthquake in Bam, the Impact of Event Scale (Horowitz et al., 1979) was given to a random selection of 129 women and 45 men, who had survived the disaster in order to assess the PTSD’s prevalence and two kinds of responses including intrusion and avoidance. Results indicated that, on average, 93.7% of the survivors suffered form PTSD with a high level of severity and showed the intrusion responses more than avoidance ones. There were no gender differences among participants in the prevalence of symptoms of PTSD and in avoidance and intrusion responses. The results were interpreted based on the Conservation of Resources theory and cultural differences.      Manuscript profile
