Borderline personality disorder is characterized by features such as identity diffusion, primitive defense mechanisms, fear of intimacy, and reality-testing deficiencies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of components of interpersonal cognitive distortions, differentiation of self and interpersonal problems in predicting of borderline personality. For data analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis was used. 318 undergraduate students were selected by random cluster sampling and filled the Interpersonal Cognitive Distortions (Hamamci & Büyüköztürk, 2004), Differentiation of Self (Skowron & Friedlander, 1998), Interpersonal Problems (Barkham, Hardy & Startup, 1994), and Borderline Personality Scale (Leichsenring, 1999). The results of stepwise regression analysis showed that among the components of cognitive distortions, the expectation of rejection (R2= 0.20), among the components of differentiation, emotional cutoff (R2=0.34), and among The components of interpersonal problems, aggression (R2=0/15), had the most role in explaining the borderline personality (p< 0/01), which in this study were presented as " triad spacing mechanism " in the borderline personality. Also in borderline personality organization in the component of identity diffusion, cut-off (R2=0/21) in defense mechanisms, reactivity (R2=0/22), in fear of intimacy, cut-off (R2=0/34) and in reality testing, misperception (R2=0/23), had a greater role in explanation (p< 0/01). Considering these dimensions can be useful in redefining borderline personality disorder as a distance personality in preventing and intervening in treatment. Manuscript profile

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the self-esteem and interpersonal problems of incompatible, adaptive and normal narcissists. Methods: The research method was causal-comparative. From the population of Islamic Azad University students, 210 people were selected by available sampling method and based on the evaluation of two questionnaires of pathological narcissism (PNI) and narcissistic personality scale (NPI) in three groups of 70 people consistent narcissism, maladaptive narcissism and no narcissism they got. To measure the desired variables, the Questionnaires of Rosenberg self esteem scale (RSES) inventory of interpersonal problems – 32 (IIP-32) were used and finally the data were analyzed by analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc test. Findings: The results showed that self-esteem in all three groups showed a significant difference (P <0.05) and self-esteem in the adaptive narcissistic group was reported more than the other two groups. Also, all dimensions of interpersonal problems in all three groups showed significant differences with each other (P <0.05).Conclusion: Incompatible narcissism can negatively affect the self-esteem, and interpersonal problems of medical students. People with incompatible narcissistic traits use being in the crowd only as a means to create a sense of superiority and dominance, are not subject to others in important life decisions, and express themselves regardless of the impact they have on others. In essence, the existence of narcissistic and incompatible narcissistic traits causes interpersonal problems on the scale of advocacy and participation. Because the feeling of merit and superiority, lack of empathy, inability to create and maintain warm and emotional ties with others and lack of shared orientation towards relationships cause the prerequisites for establishing healthy interpersonal relationships in these people to be harmed. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of group life skills training on interpersonal problems and loneliness of female high school students in Tabriz. The research was conducted by quasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest design and follow-up with the control group. For this purpose, a school from the two education districts was selected by simple random sampling and the Interpersonal Problems Questionnaire (IIP-32) and Asher, Heimel and Renshaw's Feeling of Loneliness were administered to students (pre-test). Among the students whose scores in both questionnaires were a standard deviation higher than the average, the research samples were selected by purposive method. Subjects were randomly divided into experimental and control groups and subjects in the experimental group were trained in life skills training with a ten-pattern pattern for 12 sessions in a group manner for 12 sessions, but the control group did not receive any intervention. In the last training session, both groups answered the questionnaires (post-test). One month later, the subjects in the experimental group completed the questionnaires again (follow-up). Data were analyzed using one-way covariance and paired t-test. The results showed that life skills training was effective in reducing interpersonal problems and feelings of loneliness in the experimental group (P <0.01) and this reduction remained stable in the one-month follow-up phase. Recent studies have shown that forgiveness can predict mental health and the quality of relationships. The present study investigate the moderating role of types of forgiveness (self, other, and position) on the relationship between perfectionism and interpersonal problems. A total of 286 students (154 girls, 132 boys) from University of Tehran participated in this study. Participants completed Tehran Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (Besharat, 2007), Dispositional Hartland Forgiveness Scale (Thompson, Snyder, Hoffman, Michael, Rasmussen, et al., 2005), and Inventory of Interpersonal Problems (Besharat, 2016). Results showed that the types of forgiveness are negatively related to dimensions of perfectionism and this relationship was different between girls and boys. Also dimensions of perfectionism were positively related to interpersonal problems in both men and women. Generally, types of forgiveness mediated the association between perfectionism and interpersonal problems. Based on these results, it can be concluded that perfectionism is not entirely a maladaptive trait. When perfectionism is accompanied by forgiveness, it may be efficient. A comparison between girls and boys revealed an influential role for sex on the relationships between variables studied.   Manuscript profile

Major Depressive Disorder is one of the most common mental disorders worldwide; hence identify affecting factors such as perfectionism and interpersonal problems, is important. The purpose of this study was to explain the mediating role of interpersonal problems in the relationship between negative and positive perfectionism and depression. The study design was descriptive correlational type and the statistic population included of all students of Alborz province in the second semester of 2015-2016. The sample consisted of 220 subjects who were selected through multistage sampling from two Islamic Azad University of Karaj and Alborz PNU. The study tools were positive and negative perfectionism by Terry- short, Owens, salde & Dewey (1995), interpersonal difficulties-47 by Pilkonis and colleagues (1996) and Beck Depression Inventory (1961). Increasing prevalence and wide range consequences of depression indicate the necessity of investigating psychopathological factors associated with this disorder. Study of intermediary effects is a standard method for investigating pathological models. This study has examined the relationship between ambivalence over emotional expression and depression and the intermediary role of interpersonal problems in this relationship. Therefore, in a descriptive correlational study, a sample of 521 (420 female and 101 male) students from three universities in Tehran (Shahed University, Tehran University and Islamic Azad University- Tehran medical branch) in academic year 2015-2016 were selected through availability sampling method and evaluated by Ambivalence over Emotional Expression Questionnaire (AEQ), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), and Inventory of Interpersonal Problems (IIP). Path analysis method of the data revealed that only ambivalence over positive emotional expression is related to depression and aspects such as [difficulties in] assertiveness, sociability, and aggressiveness are the indications of intermediary role of interpersonal problems in this context. The significance of direct effect between ambivalence over positive emotional expression and depression is also demonstrating that [difficulties in] assertiveness, sociability, and aggressiveness are comparative mediators in the relationship of these two variables, and that there are other variables acting as mediators. According to this study, it is concluded that disturbance in interpersonal relationships is one of the mechanisms that link ambivalence over the expression of positive emotions to depression.
