The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality and quantity of master's and doctoral dissertations in Mazandaran province. The type of research was descriptive content analysis and applied in terms of purpose. The statistical population in the qualitative section of the research were the experts of the scientific community and academic specialists and in the quantitative section, all the dissertations of the graduates of the Islamic Azad University of Sari Branch with a total of 3367 dissertations which have been presented in five trends of the Department of Educational Sciences in the academic years of 2011-2020. The sampling method was stratified random.  The sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan table. Structured interviews (10 questions) were used to collect qualitative data. In the quantitative part, a researcher-made questionnaire was designed based on the criteria extracted from the qualitative stage. Cronbach's alpha method was used to determine the reliability of the data collection tool. Data analysis was performed using Mann-Whitney U, Friedman rankings and utility tests via Spss23 software. The results showed that among 18 sections of master's theses reviewed, the conclusion section was in a less favorable condition and the sections (abstract, problem statement, research objectives, etc.) were in a relatively good condition and finally, the sections of the title, keywords, introduction, statistical population, sample and sampling, appendices and principles of correct writing were in the desired condition. In fact, according to the mean rank, the greatest weakness is in the sections of conclusion, problem statement and the significance of research, respectively, and the strongest point of dissertations have been in the sections of keywords, appendices and research methodologies.   Manuscript profile

Kant's philosophy consists of two pre-critical (until 1770) and critical stages. Inaugural dissertation written in 1770 shows Kant in the middle of his flight. Essentially, in the history of philosophy the passage times is very important because it can us knew philosophical issues in their origination and formation period. It also helps us to know more about the solutions and innovations as well as terminology of certain philosophy. In his dissertation Kant makes a distinction between sensibility and reason and allocated phenomenal knowledge to the sensibility and nominal one to the reason. He also recognized the great part played by time and space as forms of perception. A while the quality of correspondence of rational concepts with non-sensual objects attracted his attention. Confronting this issue he confined the rational concepts to the phenomenal world but to the effects of Hume, s critiques about causality, application of those concepts on phenomenal world also is being questioned and thereby ground is paved for introducing the prior doctrine in critical era of Kant. The present study aimed to examine the rhetorical structure of the discussion sections of English PhD dissertations authored by Iranian students in an EFL context, Indian ESL students and native (English speaking) PhD students at Applied Linguistics. To this end, 300 discussion sections were gathered from three contexts under study at the time frame of 2005 to 2020. Following Benson et al’s (1986) model, the researchers analyzed the discussion sections of the dissertations for both lexical and grammatical collocations and their different sub-classifications. The findings showed that the natives overused collocations in a significantly greater number in developing the PhD dissertations discussion section than those of EFL and ESL PhD students' dissertations. Moreover, despite variations, there were similarities between EFL and ESL PhD students' dissertations in terms of utilizing the sub-categories of collocations that can be considered as signs for standardization of academic writing by non-native speakers of English. The implications for researchers, teachers and students were discussed. Manuscript profile

the purpose of this study was to examine the role of anxiety, self-efficacy and perfectionism in predicting dissertation procrastination. One hundreds and ninety eight graduate student were selected by availability sampling. All participants were asked to complete the Revised Procrastination Inventory (Muszynski & Akamatsu, 1991), the Dissertation Appraisal Inventory (Varney, 2003), the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (Hewitt & Flett, 1991), and Self- Reported Form of Dissertation‎ Anxiety‎ (Grifin,‎ 2002).‎ The‎ data‎ were‎ analyzed‎ using‎ Pearson’s‎ correlation‎ coefficient‎ and‎ stepwise‎ multiple regression. The results indicated that there was a significant positive relationship between dissertation anxiety and socially prescribed perfectionism, and dissertation procrastination. Also, there was a significant negative relationship between dissertation self-efficacy and self-oriented perfectionism, and dissertation procrastination. Multiple regressions analysis indicated that anxiety, self-efficacy and socially prescribed perfectionism contributed mostly in predicting dissertation procrastination. Based on the findings that anxiety of dissertation, self-efficacy and socially prescribed perfectionism have significant roles in dissertation procrastination, it is argued that universities should pay more attentions to the factors which may play significant roles in decreasing dissertation anxiety and decreasing socially prescribed perfectionism in order to promote dissertation self-efficacy. This is more likely to reduce dissertation procrastination amongst graduate students. Manuscript profile
