This article investigates The Expression Style of Shams-e Tabrizi with a Critical Discourse Analysis Approach. It contains an explanation of the concept of power and its relation with ideology as one of the main elements of the Critical discourse theory. This article demonstrates the unique place and potential of Shams based on his threatening and protecting reputation action against the theosophical (murshid, murad, and so forth) and social (the ordinary people, philosophers, authorities, and so on) classes. As to threatening courses of action, Shams, with various ways of expression, dashingly puts himself in high regard and the audience in the accepting position of his ability. Regarding protecting manners, his high frequency serves his and, on a lower level, Rumi's reputations. We used the library research method with a descriptive-analytical perspective. The results confirm Shams's powerful status through the lens of ideological terms. Manuscript profile

Shams-e Tabrizi is still one of the unknown figures in the history of Iran-Islamic mysticism. A crucial part of our knowledge of him is due to Molana, who believes that he owes his poetry and mysticism and the meanings of his works to him. Nevertheless, Shams himself has some sayings that are collected in his “Maqalat.” This paper has originated from the very “Maqalat” and his direct sayings. There has been an attempt to present his views in a slightly systematic way on important issues such as God, the unity of religions, The mission of the prophets and “Sharia’”, following, a knowledge of the self, collection of inward and outward attitudes, independence and the rejection of imitation, talent and necessary qualifications for guidance and education, politeness and generous spirit, viewing the truth from different perspective and the mirror of death to be presented formally. Shamas because of putting emphasis on the independence of thought and avoid duplication, has different personal view regarding these issues; therefore, today we could learn this type of thinking as well as his positive doctrines from Shams.   Manuscript profile

Individual or collective worldview includes individual or a group attitudes about the universe, the creator of the universe and mankind. The significance of the worldview comes from the fact that the actions of human beings are based on their worldview. In the book Maqalat-e Shams-e Tabrizi (Discourse of Shams-e Tabrizi), as the remnants of Shams-e Tabrizi, there are many points and issues that help us to know his worldview. The purpose of this article is to explain Shams’ view about humanity as one of the foundations of his worldview. In order to obtain a precise result, all the parts of Maqalat have been examined, and all arguments have been based on his words in the book. The mystics focus on man in three areas of "man and self, man and God, and man and his fellow men", so this research includes the important words of Shams in the three above-mentioned fields. In this article, the prominent position of man in the thoughts of Shams has been shown, the position which is based on his view about ‘unity of Being’. Also, his serious and responsible attention to all human beings (and not just the perfect man) has been considered. Manuscript profile

Shams-i Tabrizi is one of the great mystics and great thinkers of his day, but until today and about two or three decades ago, he did not hold a prominent place in the history of Sufism except in the circle of Mulānā Jalāl-al Din Rumī and his companions. Our information about him is limited to Maqalat-e Shams-e Tabrizi (Discourse of Shams-i Tabrizi) and the sources that have written about his acquaintance with Rumī. It is only in Maqalat-e Shams-e Tabrizi that we get more detailed information about his life. One of remarkable thing about him is his teaching method. As it is clear from the sources, he used to teach children Qurān. His methods of teaching are different from the principles of modern education. They address two issues. First, to a certain extent, they refer to the methods of education of children in the seventh century AH; second, they show Shams-i Tabrizi method of education in great detail. His method of educating children is in line with his world-view and his critical and explicit approach. In the section of Shams-i Tabrizi's biography, the present essay used books and articles and his personality was evaluated by the analysis of content. Manuscript profile

In Islamic mysticism, the idea of “silence” refers to a method of meditation and is means for purification of the carnal soul. In Persian language 'Khamush', meaning silent, mute, or quite, is a word which Mawlānā Jālāl al-Din Balkhi frequently used in his poetry. In Divān-e-Shams, hundreds of odes end with 'khamush'. Some scholars are of the opinion that Mawlānā used nom de plume 'Khamush' in his poetry, hence the numerous references are made to the word 'Khamush' at the end of his odes. And some scholars believe that Shams-e Tabrizi tought the art of “silence” to Mawlānā that helped him change from a respected professor of theology into a lover of God.     Manuscript profile

Language is one of major means for relating the world of "self" and "other". It is also linked to morality. By using phenomenological approach, the authors of present article try to consider the ethical origin of some important issues in Maqalat-e Shams-e Tabrizi (Discourse of Shams-i Tabrizi) , the issues leading to a proper understanding of the character of Shams-e Tabrizi. Therefore, by utilizing library method and content analysis, first we consider the concept of "isolation" as one of the most important concepts in his thoughts, and then look at his views about moral responsibility regarding "self" and "other" and the relation of ethics and language as well. Then, we consider two methods which the language in the book was used.  Sometimes he refers to necessity of speaking with "other" and at times he responds with negative language to encounter the "other". Finally, Shams' critique to some his previous mystics, is considered as a discourse in ethical arena.   Manuscript profile

Abstract In recent years, the study of social problems have been seen as one of the most important parts of Persian literature texts which culminated in valuable works written in this field. The aim of this study was to analyze the sociological concept of love in Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī‘s thoughts (Mowlānā). In this study, content analysis was used to analyze the data compiled.  The research method involved analyzing the works of Mowlānā and his thoughts were then compared and contrasted in terms of sociological viewpoints with other sociologists’ comments. The statistical population consisted of famous works of Mowlānā from which three important works (Masnavi, Divan-e Shams-e Tabrizi and Fihi Ma-Fihi) were selected as this study’s sample through targeted sampling. The results of the analysis suggests that Mowlānā is informing us that without love our social life would have no purpose or destination. Manuscript profile
