          Background: Mathematics is among the main subjects affecting academic performance and career prospects of several factors such as creativity, philosophical- mindedness, mathematics self-efficacy in mathematics. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the role of philosophical- mindedness, creativity, self-efficacy and mathematics self-concept on mathematics achievement. Methods: Method study was correlation and the statistical community was all student from Marand county. The sample group included 393) 257 girls, 136 boys) student that were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. Assessment instruments was of philosophical l- Mindedness, creativity, self-efficacy and mathematics self-concept questionnaire. Data were analyzed using path analysis and effect size. Results: Results show that the direct effect of mathematics self-efficacy on creativity, mathematics self-concept and mathematics achievement was positive and significant and indirect effect mathematics self-efficacy on mathematics achievement was significant. in addition direct effect of mathematics self-concept on mathematics achievement was significant. In this study, although the direct effect of creativity on math self-concept was positive and significant, and the negative impact of these variables indicate the progress of the mathematical creativity is a deterrent variable. In addition, the results of the research showed that the philosophical- Mindedness is one of the factors that influence on creativity, but a direct effect of this variable on the mathematics achievement was not significant. Conclusion: This information can be used in order to improvement student mathematics performance.   Manuscript profile

        This study examined the role of achievement goals, working memory and cognitive styles in predicting academic achievement in math. Among all students in grade seven high schools in the two cities of Mashhad, 264 people sampling multi-stage cluster were selected and questionnaires cognitive styles dependent on context and unrelated to the fields, inventory goal orientation Midgley et al (1998 ) and full questionnaire responded memory. To analyze the data, Pearson correlation and regression analysis were used. The results showed that cognitive styles, achievement goals and working memory there is a significant positive correlation with math achievement and predicted mathematics achievement is the highest share in working memory. Cognitive styles of students who are independent, have reported the amount of memory span more active. Students with independent stylistic mastery goals are more or average score. Students with field dependent cognitive style are more avoidant score goals. Working memory is a significant relationship mastery goals. - The relationship between working memory span and approach the target score in order to direct significant relationship exists between working memory span and score the aim of avoiding significant negative relationship exists Dard.ntayj research shows that mathematical achievement of the goals of progress , stylistic and working memory predictable.         The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between studying approaches and math anxiety with academic achievement in mathematics. For this purpose, 166 students (98 male and 68 female) were randomly selected with cluster sampling from Islamic Azad University branch Abadan that they are enrolment in pre-mathematics courses in the second semester of the 1389-90 year. The Approaches and Study Skills Inventory for Students scale and Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Anxiety Scale were used respectively for measuring studying approaches and mathematics anxiety, Final exam scores was considered as achievement in mathematics. The Pearson correlation test didn’t show a significant relationship between deep, strategic and surface studying approaches with mathematics achievement. Mathematics anxiety had negatively significant related to mathematics achievement and also all subscales of studying approaches had a significant relation with mathematics anxiety. Using the structural equation modeling for identifying relations between studying approaches and math achievement in the presence of math anxiety indicated a surface studying approach has a negative indirect significant effect on mathematics achievement. The result shows that students with surface studying approach show a weaker performance in mathematics, even in the non-deep tests. The results of this study can be used in academic counseling to increase mathematics achievement.    Manuscript profile

        This paper aims to investigate the role of dimension computer game in students’ achievement motivation as well as their mathematics achievement in relation to their background knowledge of English and mathematics. This study was a kind of quasi experimental research with pre-test and post-test with a control group. The statistical population included boy students in grade two of secondary school in Tehran city. Through cluster random sampling method, 87 have been selected and divided into two control and test groups. The research tools were researcher-made English test, mathematics test and mathematics achievement motivation questionnaire. The statistical method was block multiple variance analysis. The research results indicated that the computer game based method (dimension game for teaching equation and coordinate axes) with media of English and mathematics background knowledge can increase academic achievement. English background had no influence on the effect of dimension computer game on tendency motive. Computer game with medium of mathematics background knowledge can increase tendency motive. English background did not have any influence on the effect of dimension computer game on preventive motive either. Computer game with the medium of mathematics background knowledge, too, can increase preventive motive. Computer game based method with media of English and mathematics background knowledge can result in positive attitude towards mathematics. Therefore, we can conclude that emphasis on English and mathematics background knowledge as well as using educational computer games can lead to students’ academic achievement and mathematics achievement motivation.
