Abstract :
In recent years, increasing attention has been given to the interconnected development of motor and cognitive skills in young athletes. Children aged 7to 10 years represent a critical stage of development, during which both motor and cognitive skills are rapidly maturing. Despite the recognized importance of both domains, limited research has explored how motor and cognitive skills interact to influence specific performance outcomes in young basketball players. Understanding this relationship may provide valuable insights for coaches, educators, and sports psychologists seeking to design more effective training programs that support holistic development. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between motor and cognitive skills on the penalty accuracy of female basketball players. The research method is correlation type. The statistical population included all basketball players aged 7 to 10 in Tehran, and 200 people were randomly selected from different clubs in Tehran. MABC2 test was used to evaluate motor skills, block chair test was used to evaluate cognitive skills, and penalty throw test was used for penalty accuracy. Descriptive tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data, and the Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used to check the normality of the data. The results of the research showed that there is a positive relationship between the motor skills and penalty accuracy of teenage basketball players (r = 0.19 and p = 0.011), that is, as the motor skills of basketball teenagers increase, penalty accuracy increases. However, no relationship was found between cognitive skill and penalty accuracy of teenage basketball players (P=0.270 and r=0.16).Therefore, based on the results of the research, it is pointed out that coaches can use movement skills to improve the accuracy of basketball penalty shots. However, the use of cognitive skills needs further investigationپ
