The relationship between media consumption and confidence among students of Mazandaran University

Abstract :
Trust is a crucial issue that today’s societies are encountered, and one of important factor of social survival. Present research seeks to study the relationship between media consumption (local and satellite television) and trust. The universe of the study was all of the enrolled students of Mazandaran University which 400 students through proportionate stratified sampling method have been selected as sample of the study. The required data has been gathered by self administered questionnaire and data were analyzed via SPSS software. Research findings indicate that while there is positive relationship between watching local TV and trust, watching satellite TV is related to trust, negatively. Furthermore, there is positive relationship between watching local TV and family trust, relative trust, and institutional trust, but watching satellite TV has negative relationship with family trust, trust in friends, social trust, and institutional trust.
