Abstract :
< p >The present study studies the characteristics of urban spaces and its role in the sense of security of citizens in the three and twelve Tehran cities. The method of this study was survey and questionnaire tool. The validity of the questionnaire was estimated using Cronbach''s alpha of 89%. A total of 377 citizens from these regions were sampled. The analysis of the findings was quantitatively and inferential and with the help of modeling the equation of structure with the Amos Graphics software. In modeling the dimensions of each of the indicators, they are measured according to factor load, and the results indicate that all dimensions of insecurity have been able to define the main variable well. In structural analysis of variables, urban defensiveness spaces with coefficient (0.72) have a direct and significant effect on insecurity and even this concept has various effects in different situations from many variables. Among the variables studied, the level of awareness of individuals, individual insight and type of space have inverse effects on urban defenseless spaces and on insecurity. On the level of awareness of people and its effect on urban defenseless spaces with coefficient (-0.77) and its concurrent effect with coefficient (-0.58), this indicates that the level of awareness of individuals increases, as a result, Urban defense and insecurity will be reduced.
