Evaluation of sexual dysfunction in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Abstract :
AbstractBackground: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA or Rheumatoid Arthritis) is one of the most common autoimmune diseases, affecting about 1 percent of the world are caught in It. Rheumatoid arthritis may affect all aspects of life including sexual function. The researchers went on to evaluate sexual dysfunction in patients with rheumatoid arthritis pay.Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study that was done in the first 6 months of 1394 in the city of Qom. Non-random sample of 120 individuals were selected. Data were collected demographic questionnaire, the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), the International Index of Erectile Dysfunction (IIEF) and checklist of patient information and clinical examination and laboratory data were recorded.Findings: The mean age of the sample 39.28±9.38 years and the majority of the subjects were female (79.2 %). 64 (53.3%) of the subjects were suffering from sexual dysfunction. The prevalence of sexual dysfunction in females is higher and statistically significant difference was seen in this area (P = 0.016)Conclusion: In this study and similar studies the link between rheumatoid arthritis and cause sexual dysfunction is mentioned, it is recommended that health staff accurately and more important in patients with rheumatoid arthritis pursue this case and serious screening the background of all patients with rheumatoid arthritis, particularly women, to be taken.
