The effectiveness of positive psychotherapy on marital intimacy, mental vitality and emotional expression in women with marital burnout

Abstract :

Abstract The purpose of this research was the effectiveness of positive psychotherapy on marital intimacy, mental vitality and emotional expression in women with marital burnout. The current study was applied in terms of purpose and in terms of method, it was a semi experimental with pre-test, post-test and follow-up with a time interval of 2 months along with the control group. The statistical population of the research included women with marital burnout who referred to counseling and psychological centers of Razi family, Omid Farda, Hayat Shahr Karaj in the second 6 months of 1402. In order to select the sample size, 24 women with high marital burnout were selected based on the purposeful sampling method and based on the entry and exit criteria. In this way, firstly, 150 women referring to counseling and psychotherapy centers were administered the Marital Exhaustion Questionnaire, and then 24 women who obtained the highest score in this questionnaire were selected in two groups. They were randomly assigned as a single hyperdiagnostic test group (12 people) and a control group (12 people). The experimental groups received ten 45-minute sessions of positive psychotherapy once a week, and no intervention was provided to the control group. The data were analyzed using the analysis of covariance test in SPSS software version 26. The results showed that positive psychotherapy had a significant effect on marital intimacy and emotional expression in women with marital burnout, but it did not have a significant effect on the mental vitality of women with marital burnout;Therefore, the results of the present study can be considered by family counseling centers, psychologists and couples.
