Abstract :
The current research aims to compare the role of physical elements in the sense of security of urban streets "Case examples: Saadi Street and Parvin Etesami Street (Banbarz) Ilam city". The research is of an applied type and the research method is a survey and the method of collecting information in this research is a questionnaire. During this research, it has been tried to use indicators and tools to measure the physical elements of the environment in urban streets, and for this purpose, 200 questionnaires were distributed with the survey method in two urban streets in two neighborhoods of Banbarz and Saadi Ilam. statistical analysis has been done by comparing the two mentioned streets. The current research has four independent variables (readability, pedestrian orientation, control and supervision, and structural factors) and one dependent variable (sense of security). The Pearson correlation results of Saadi and Parvin Etesami streets indicate that there is a statistically significant relationship between the variables of legibility and ambient lighting, social walking, social control and surveillance, and structural factors with the variable of sense of security in both streets. This relationship in all cases (with the exception of the structural factors of Parvin Etesami Street) is at an appropriate level and shows a good and direct (positive) correlation. But regarding the structural factors of Parvin Etesami Street, this relationship is moderate and direct. The results of the independent t-test show that the average variables of environmental readability, pedestrian orientation, control and supervision, structural factors and sense of environmental security in the two groups of respondents of Saadi Street and Parvin Etesami had significant differences from each other. In all cases, the respondents of Parvin Etesami Street were less satisfied than the respondents of Saadi Street regarding the environmental legibility, walk ability, control and supervision, structural factors, and the sense of environmental security of their place of residence. The regression results of the research show that, in Saadi Street, only two variables of environmental readability and pedestrian circulation affect the variable of sense of environmental security.
