The relationship between the meaning of life and emotion regulation strategies and psychological toughness in students

Abstract :
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between meaning of life and emotion regulation strategies and psychological hardiness in students. This was a descriptive correlational study. The statistical population of this study included 7000 students of Kharazmi University who were selected using cluster-multistage sampling of 194 people (97 girls and 97 boys) and the questionnaire of meaning of life, difficulties They responded to emotional regulation and psychological toughness. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The results of regression analysis showed that there is a relationship between the meaning of life and psychological hardiness (P <0.01). Meaning of life explains 34% and 16% of the variance in psychological toughness and emotion regulation strategies, respectively. The results showed an inverse relationship between meaning of life and emotion regulation strategies (P <0.01). In the end, considering the results of the research, it turns out that the meaning of life is one of the important predictors of emotion regulation strategies and psychological hardiness of male and female students.
