Comparing the Efficacy of the cognitive-behavioral therapy with non-violent communication program on the children's externalizing symptoms

Abstract :
Abstract Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of two interventions concluding cognitive-behavioral therapy and Nonviolent Communication on externalizing problem of children 5 to 8 years. Method: In order to achieve the objectives of the study, quasi-experimental was assigned. The study population consisted of children 5 to 8 years in Tehran, referring to the Comprehensive Psychiatric Center Group Atiyeh. Sample groups consisted of 30 children with externalizing symptoms were the target population with convenience sampling method, participated in this study. Sample groups was assigned to two experimental and control groups including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and non-violent communication,. The experimental groups participated in their therapy sessions, while the control groups received no treatment. For collecting data Child Behavioral Check List (CBCL) by participants before treatment, after treatment and at follow-up was completed. Result: Univariate analysis of covariance as well as other methods of analyzing the data showed that there were significant differences between the experimental groups including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and control groups at post-test. Conclusion: The effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) intervention were still Persistent. Also, the results showed that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy was more effective than non-violent communication.
